Bukoko Primary School, Uganda.

During our last trip to Uganda we visited the village of Bukoko near Fort Portal in Western Uganda. The Bukoko Women's Association run small income generating projects to help support vulnerable children in their community. Their village has no school so OrphFund has committed to helping them build their own. We've started by building a bread oven to help generate funds to make bricks. In early 2016 we will be sending a team of volunteers over to help raise the walls and fund the project.

As always we'll be looking for individuals to join our team in Uganda. To register your interest please email danielle@orphfund.org. Please also refer to our Volunteering Overseas section for more information on what is involved when volunteering with OrphFund on a project.

Magwar Primary School, Kenya.

Through our 1Day campaign we are hoping to assist the village of Magwar with a new classroom during 2015. Primary students currently sit on mud floors in these crumbling school buildings. We're planning on replacing these with something a bit more structurally sound, and help provide desks and benches for the children to learn in a little more comfort.

A portion of funds needed have been raised through the participation of a number of schools in our 1Day event held in November 2014. With fundraising from 2015 also being directed to this worthy project we hope to have things completed by early 2016.
